Food Basket Project

Food Basket Project is a structured humanitarian response designed to support vulnerable and low-income families amidst Yemen’s worsening economic and living crises. The project focuses on providing complete food packages that meet the minimum nutritional needs of a family for a reasonable period, aiming to alleviate the daily reality of food insecurity faced by thousands of households.
The project is implemented in seven key governorates: Hadramout, Aden, Shabwah, Al-Hodeidah, Abyan, Lahj, and Al-Mahrah—regions heavily affected by the ongoing crisis, where large segments of the population struggle to access sufficient and essential food supplies.
Through this initiative, we aim to ease the burden on struggling families, promote social solidarity and cooperation, and revive values of community support, especially during seasons and occasions where the need for unity and compassion increases.

The project revolves around the procurement and distribution of food baskets containing essential items such as rice, flour, sugar, oil, legumes, and canned goods—selected carefully to ensure nutritional balance and adequate portions for each family.
Beneficiaries are identified through clear criteria that ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable. A transparent distribution mechanism is used in coordination with local authorities and community committees to maintain fairness and efficiency.
The project relies on contributions from generous donors and supporting partners. It is implemented in phases across a wide geographical area, targeting regions with high population density and poverty rates.
It offers a practical and effective solution to reduce hunger and improve temporary food security, with the potential for continued support or expansion depending on available resources.

  • Widespread poverty and lack of income among thousands of families in the targeted governorates.
  • Rising food prices and difficulty in accessing essential supplies.
  • The urgent need for humanitarian interventions to provide a minimum level of food security.
  • Supporting the resilience of needy families and easing their daily burdens.

The project is carried out in the following seven Yemeni governorates:

  • Hadramout
  • Aden
  • Shabwah
  • Al-Hodeidah
  • Abyan
  • Lahj
  • Al-Mahrah
